How to Maintain Stage Lighting Equipment?
1. Common knowledge of stage lighting maintenance.
Many people don’t know much about stage lighting equipment. In fact, stage lighting fixtures are the most in need of maintenance. Here Shining LED stage lighting technicians to explain to us the knowledge about daily matters that we need to pay attention to.
First, prohibit excessive temperature. When the stage lighting fixtures are working normally, the best ambient temperature should not exceed 45 degrees Celsius. If the ambient temperature exceeds 45°C, it is necessary to suspend use or shut down.
Second, pay attention to UV.
• It is forbidden to expose the light bulb directly in order to avoid ultraviolet rays hurting the eyes;
• Do not use equipment without lens and cover.
• If the lighting lens and other lamp body cover are damaged or broken, please replace it with new parts in time.
Third, protection against electric shock and high voltage
• The technicians responsible for the installation of stage lighting equipment must have the corresponding qualifications to operate. Before installation, please confirm that the power voltage you use must meet the voltage of the power source marked by the stage lighting systems and must have overload or leakage protection.
• Each lamp must be properly grounded and installed in accordance with the relevant standards. When installing and removing the light bulb or replacing the fuse, the equipment must be disconnected from the power supply. It is forbidden to use in thunderstorm weather or humid environment. If you want to use it, use stage lighting rain cover.
Fourth, regular inspection and cleaning of stage lighting equipment.
For stage lighting fixtures with fans, pay attention to cleaning the air outlets and air inlets to keep them smooth. Clean it carefully at least once a month.
Fifth, moving head lights require frequent maintenance.
• The most important optical components in the stage lighting fixtures need to use a vacuum cleaner or airbag to gently blow off the dust on the surface. Use odorless tissue paper or cotton cloth soaked with clean water to wipe off the particulate matter.
• The parts with coated color film and optical lens, because the surface of the coating layer is very brittle and easily scratched, so do not use destructive solvents for cleaning.
• Moving head lights should be handled lightly to avoid a collision, fall, etc.
• Be careful not to use it in places where there is a lot of sand and dust.
• After the performance, use the console to turn off the bulb. And do not cut off the power, and let it continue to work for a while in order to let the fan in the lamp continue to work to reduce the temperature of the lamp body.
• After the stage tour events are completed, stage lighting equipment should be installed in a special box or fly case to prevent moisture and shock, and for the fixed installation lighting equipment, we should pay attention to ash and shock.
2. Precautions of stage lighting maintenance
• Half an hour before the opening, turn on all equipment, perform low-temperature preheating, and simultaneously detect all lighting equipment and lines. A low-temperature state means that the light is dimming a bit.
• After warming up for fifteen minutes, reset all the equipment to zero to allow the equipment to dissipate heat.
• After heat dissipation, you can officially enter the lighting and sound performance stage.
• At the end of the stage show and after the guests leave, the lighting designers should turn off all equipment and allow the equipment to dissipate heat for 15 to 20 minutes, then seal or cover the equipment before the lighting engineer can leave the venue.
3. The routine detection range of stage lighting maintenance
• Whether the bulb can be lit normally.
• Whether all equipment connections are normal.
• Whether all equipment can be used normally, including whether the light control switch, color changer control, scanner movement, etc. are normal.
• Whether DMX512 signal can control lamps normally.
• Whether the special effect equipment is in normal use and filled with the required materials, such as smoke machine, fog machine, snowflake machine, bubble machine, etc.
4. Weekly testing of stage lighting maintenance
In addition to all the daily stage lighting maintenance, we should pay attention to the weekly regular inspection, too. During the weekly inspection, it mainly detects the connection of the device, including the power connection, DMX512 connection, etc., to see if there is any looseness, whether there is a breakpoint, etc. At the same time, during the weekly inspection, the lamp position and DMX512 programming should be adjusted more comprehensively
5. Monthly lighting equipment maintenance and proper adjustment
Appropriate adjustments every month, in addition to all the work of daily monitoring and weekly testing, this will be a very meticulous work that requires coordination of multiple departments, such as lighting designers, actors, bands, weak electricity, security, cleaning, etc.
