DMX Stage Lighting Moving Head Light Faults and Solutions

Moving head lights are one of the most common stage lighting products in event production.
Generally moving head light is composed of three parts, optical system, mechanical system and electrical system.
Sometimes it is inevitable to encounter some problems during use.
If you do have a fault in your stage lighting items, hope this article is helpful for you to solve stage lighting problems.

Common Fault of Moving Head Light and its Solutions.
1. Does the moving head light not power on?
A. First check if there is any problem with the power cord.
B. Check whether the fuse of the power socket is burned out.
C. Open the bottom panel of the moving head lights and check whether the ballast is energized; whether the internal switch connection line appears to be dropping.
D. Open the two shells of the lamp body, and check whether the temperature control is faulty.

2. Moving head light bulb does not light?
A. Turn on the tail of the lamp body and check whether the bulb is white or black. If the above two phenomena appear, replace the bulb first and try again;
B. Open the two shells of the lamp body, the trigger is installed on the lamp post, check if the trigger wiring is burnt, and replace the trigger if there is any.

3. Common fault: Moving head light bulb sometimes on and sometimes off?
A. Check whether the bulb is white, black or even bulging. Please replace the bulb immediately in case of the above situation, so as not to damage the product;
B. Check whether the fans near the two sides of the bulb are working normally. If there is any damage, please replace the fans in time;
C. Please open the two shells, there is a white temperature control in the layer of the pattern sheet and the color sheet to see if it is burned out (if it is broken, it will not extinguish the bubble);
D. Open the two shells of the lamp body. There are cooling windows on the rear of the bulb.
After a long time, the air passage can be blocked. If the cooling window is full of dust, please clean it (this cooling window is best cleaned every month)

4. What is the cause of the moving head light bulb blowing up?
A. First check whether the voltage is between 220V-230V, if it exceeds 230V, the possibility of frothing (so the regulator should be installed in all places)
B. If a bulb blowing up appears, please check whether the bubble is caused by a long working life over 1000 hours or longer.
C. Is there a problem with the quality of the bulb?
D. If none of the above three methods are possible, then there may be a problem with the ballast, please contact the supplier to solve it.

5. Uncontrollable moving head light?
A. Check if the address code is logarithmic? If the address code is correct but not controlled, check whether the three cores of the signal line are reversed. And check whether the connection between the XLR seat and XLR head occurs (poor contact);
B. If the address code is correct and the signal line is connected properly, the DMX lamp at the address code will flash normally. If it does not flash, there is a connection problem;
C. Use the same controller to try to connect another lamp separately. If there is no problem, it proves that there is a problem with the uncontrolled lamp main board or display board.

6. Moving head light belt broken?
A. If the X / Y axis of the lamp body does not respond, but the console and other lamps are operating normally, the belt may be broken;
B. If the X axis does not move, but the Y axis moves, or the X axis moves, but the Y axis does not move, the belt may be broken;
C. If the above phenomenon occurs, you can move X / Y by hand with the lights off, and feel if there is a belt that is turning. If it is loose and it is easy to move, it will prove that the belt is broken. , Please contact the supplier to resolve.

7. Moving head light out of sync?
A. If the moving head light is out of sync, please re-program and try again;
B. If it still doesn't work, then it proves that a certain function of the motor or a certain IC of the motherboard is burned out, please contact the supplier to solve it.

Moving Head Daily Maintenance
1. Power supply maintenance: First of all, every time before using, please check whether the power cord is connected securely, and check whether there is any poor contact with the socket.
It is the best to install a voltage regulator, because either the wiring problem or the unstable voltage will cause the voltage input to be unstable.
When the voltage is unstable, the first threat is the power supply of the beam light. There is a chance that the power supply will burn.
Secondly, every time before using, it must be performed in the order of first plugging in the wire and then turning on the switch in order to avoid sudden shock of the power supply,
which will affect the service life of the power supply.
Finally, after each use, turn off the light bulb, wait 5 minutes, then turn off the power switch, and then unplug the power cord.

2. Bulb maintenance: First, do not control the light bulb on and off frequently.
The time interval between each time the light bulb is turned on or off is controlled to be more than 5 minutes.
Because the control of the light bulb is achieved by the high voltage shock of the lighter of 380 volts, if the light bulb is turned on or off frequently, it will seriously affect the life of the lighter.
Second, after each use, do not immediately turn off the power switch. You should first turn off the lamp and wait for the lamp to cool for 5-10 minutes (depending on the weather and ambient temperature).
Then turn off the power switch, and finally unplug the power cord

3.Optical lens maintenance: Optical lenses are high-precision optical instruments.
The focal length of each optical lens is different, and the surface of the lens is coated with an optical anti-reflection coating.
The thickness of the anti-reflection film determines the quality of the light transmission effect, and it is specifically realized as the color of the lens reflection as seen by the naked eye.
The coating optical lens is relatively fragile. Be careful not to touch it with hard, sharp objects.
This is easy to scratch the coating optical lens of moving head lights.
When cleaning the dust on the lens surface, clean it with soft paper towels and clean water to prevent corrosive liquids from cleaning.

4. Packing and transportation maintenance: Before packing, be sure to lock the XY axis of the moving head lights at the corresponding position and then refill the flight case to prevent the light body from colliding with the flight case during the transportation.
In addition, the flycase with the beam light must be placed upright. Whether it is manual handling or vehicle transportation, the flight case cannot be placed on the side, which will damage the lamp body plug or screen.
Also, the wheel of the flycase or carton box package must be locked during loading.
