Common faults of moving head lights and its solutions
Problem |
Cause |
Solution |
Light does not start properly |
Power is not connected |
Please check if the power cord is plugged in or not |
Fuse blown |
Disconnect power and replace fuse |
|
Switching power supply failure |
Use a Multimeter to check if the switching power supply has an output voltage. If there is a problem, replace the switching power supply |
|
Bulb off |
Shutter closed |
Open the head cover and check if the bulb is lit, and the shutter is working normally or not |
Bulb burned out |
Disconnect the power supply and replace the lamp |
|
Switching power supply failure |
Use a Multimeter to check if the switching power supply has an output voltage. If there is a problem, replace the switching power supply |
|
Ballast failure |
Replace the ballast |
|
Lights work intermittently |
Lamp overheating |
Check if the cooling fan is working properly and clean the lamp |
Thermostat failure |
Replace the thermostat |
|
After a period of power on, automatic reset occurs. |
Switching power supply output voltage is unstable |
Replace the switching power supply |
The cable is loose or not pressed tight well, resulting in poor contact, so there is an automatic reset |
Check and connect the cable well
|
|
Light is not in control |
No DMX signal input |
Check if the connection of the device is correct and the signal cable is damaged or not. If there is a problem, replace the signal cable |
Light address code incorrect |
Check the address code and channel mode |
|
One of the lights failed, disturbing the data transmission of the rest light |
Unplug the fault light XLR signal cable and bypass the fixture to connect the rest fixtures |
|
Color (gobo, focus, etc.) positioning is not accurate |
Sensor deviation |
Check and re-adjust the distance between the color wheel and the sensor (1.0-2.5mm is the appropriate distance)) |
Sensor damage |
Check if the sensor is well connected to the terminal line. If there is a problem, replace the sensor |
|
Driver board failure |
Check if the drive board is well connected to the terminal line. If there is any problem, replace the drive board. |
|
XY axis jitter/stuck |
Motor failure |
Check if the motor is connected to the terminal wire well. If there is any problem, replace the motor |
XY axis mechanical failure |
Check the XY axis and adjust the bearings and belt to the proper tightness |
|
XY axis reading failure |
Check if the sensor and the reading disk are in contact well. If there is any problem, replace the sensor or reading disk. |
|
XY axis induction fault |
Check the sensor is well connected to the terminal wire and re-adjust the distance between the magnet and the sensor. (1.0-2.5mm is the appropriate distance) |
|
XY axis drive board failure |
Check if the input voltage is 24VDC and the terminal line is well connected to the sensor board. If there is a problem, replace the XY drive board |
The above is the analysis and processing of some common faults of moving head lights. In fact, to reduce the occurrence of faults, the usual maintenance is essential.
Following is a brief introduction to the daily maintenance.
1. For optical components, first gently blow off the surface dust with a vacuum cleaner or air bag, wipe off the granules with odorless tissue paper or cotton cloth soaked in water, and remove the dust and residue with cotton cloth or odorless paper soaked in ethylene glycol. Material, use distilled water for final cleaning, then dry with soft cotton cloth.
2. For optical lenses and parts with coated color patches, due to the surface of the coating is very brittle and easily scratched, do not use destructive solvents for cleaning.
3. Be careful not to use it in places where there is a lot of dust and sand.
4. After events, use the console to extinguish the lamp and does not cut off the power, let it continue to work for a period of time (let the fan inside the lamp continue to work, to reduce the temperature inside the lamp body.
5. After events, it must be installed in a special flight case to prevent moisture and shock. Should pay attention to anti-ash and anti-shock for the fixed installation of the beam light.
Warning
1. Replace the lamp when it becomes defective or damaged and cannot be reused or exceeds its maximum life.
2. Disconnect the AC power supply when replacing the lamp, fuse box, and any parts.
3. Keep the grounding switch grounded forever
4. The source of the power source should be in accordance with local building and electronic signals, with overload protection and reliable grounding.
5. Don't let the light illuminate the bare skin and do not look at the beam light directly.
6. Do not expect to short-circuit the temperature switch or fuse box directly. When replacing defective fuses, use the same type of fuse with the certification mark.
7. Flammable items (such as cloth, wood, paper) should be at least 1m away from the lamp body, and flammable items should be kept away from the lamp body.
8. Maintain a distance of 0.1 m between the fan and the vent.
9. When the outer surface of the moving head lights becomes very hot, cool it for 15 minutes and then restart to work.
10. Please replace or install lights with the original parts.
11. Please keep the optical system clean. If the lens is covered by grease or dust, the relative luminous flux will decrease accordingly.
